Position Overview


The Retail Store Manager is responsible for overseeing all facets of store operations, from managing staff and inventory to ensuring customer satisfaction and aligning with our company's policies and goals. They act as the bridge between the workforce and upper management, translating corporate strategies into actionable plans.


Key Responsibilities


Staff Management


  • Hiring: Conduct interviews, evaluate candidates, and onboard new employees.
  • Training: Develop training programs to enhance employee skills and product knowledge.
  • Scheduling: Coordinate staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during all business hours.
  • Performance Reviews: Periodically evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback.
Operations Management


  • Sales Targets: Set realistic yet ambitious sales goals and devise strategies to meet them.
  • Inventory Control: Manage stock levels, perform audits, and prevent loss or theft.
  • Store Presentation: Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting store environment.
  • Customer Experience: Strategize, train and plan compelling customer in-store experiences that make them feel at home and love their time in the store
  • Customer Service: Encourage staff to provide outstanding service and handle customer complaints effectively.
Financial Management


  • Budgeting: Create and oversee the store's budget while keeping costs under control.
  • Sales Analysis: Review sales reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Expense Management: Monitor and authorize expenditures, ensuring adherence to financial policies.
Marketing & Promotion


  • Promotional Strategies: Collaborate with the marketing department to plan and execute promotional activities.
  • Visual Merchandising: Create compelling displays throughout the store. Plan for Merchandise rotation management. Plan seasonal window displays that grab customers attention.
  • Local Outreach: Engage with the local community to increase brand awareness and store traffic.


Qualifications and Skills


The ideal candidate for the Retail Store Manager position will possess a combination of the following qualifications and skills:

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree in business or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in retail management, with a track record of success in driving sales and team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of customer service excellence and sales techniques.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in various computer applications and retail management software.
  • Capability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations diplomatically.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.


Performance Metrics


To ensure continued success and growth, the Retail Store Manager's performance will be evaluated based on the following metrics:


  • Achievement of sales targets and growth in comparison to previous performance periods.
  • Store back end organization, store cleanliness and store visual displays
  • Inventory turnover rates and shrinkage percentages.
  • Customer feedback and satisfaction scores.
  • Efficiency in operational processes and cost management.
  • Employee retention rates and the development of staff members.


Reporting and Accountability


The Retail Store Manager will report directly to the owner and is accountable for the overall performance of the store. Regular reporting will encompass financial results, staff development updates, operational challenges, and strategic initiative progress.
