Job Summary:

The Senior Manager of MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) Purchasing and Transportation is responsible for overseeing the procurement of MRO supplies and managing the transportation in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures that all MRO purchasing activities support the company’s operational efficiency, while transportation processes are optimized for cost-effectiveness, compliance, and timely delivery.


Key Responsibilities:

MRO Purchasing:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies specifically for MRO supplies, ensuring cost-effective and timely acquisition.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers, focusing on achieving the best value for MRO materials and services.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring the reliability and quality of MRO supplies.
  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance to make informed purchasing decisions and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to forecast MRO needs and prevent supply shortages.
  • Oversee the evaluation and selection of suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Transportation Management:

  • Lead and manage the company’s transportation operations utilizing 3PL partnerships
  • Optimize transportation carrier selections to reduce costs and improve delivery efficiency.
  • Ensure all transportation activities comply with safety, environmental, and legal regulations.
  • Monitor and analyze transportation metrics to identify areas for continuous improvement.


Leadership & Strategy:

  • Lead a team of MRO buyers providing mentorship, training, and development to ensure high performance.
  • Develop and manage the MRO purchasing and transportation budget, identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency.
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies and systems to enhance MRO purchasing and transportation processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align MRO purchasing and transportation strategies with overall business objectives, including sustainability and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on MRO purchasing and transportation performance, risks, and strategic opportunities.


Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the MRO supply chain and transportation partnerrships.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans for supply chain disruptions, including alternative sourcing and transportation options for critical MRO supplies.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in MRO purchasing and logistics management, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Skills:
  • Expertise in MRO procurement, including supplier management and contract negotiation.
  • Strong understanding of logistics and transportation processes, including regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Certifications: Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), or other relevant certifications are a plus.
