I am Partner & VP at RSM Solutions, Inc and I have been recruiting technical talent for over 22 years and been in the tech sector since the 1990s. I say this because I am far more interested in 'fit' than anything else...a fit for you and a fit for the client. In addition, I like to add some humor to these Job Descriptions. So, if you see something in here that makes you chuckle, that was the intent.


In addition, I am a real person writing this late on a Thursday while watching reruns of SNL. So, no bots...no AI...just a real person.


This role is for one of my favorite clients to work with. They have a relatively mature IT Team (about 25 people, including infrastructure, apps and so on), have leaders with a good degree of EQ (emotional intelligence), and have individuals that actually want you to succeed.


As with just about every role I work on, the social fit is almost as important as the technical fit. That being said, here are some characteristics of what creates a good social fit here:

  • This is a place where you will not be micromanaged. There is an expectation that you are an adult and will act like one. I know this may sound odd to say, so let me explain. I am sure that some of you reading this that have been in environments where every action you take has some sort of oversight to it. This is not that kind of place. There is an expectation that you know what you are doing and that you don't need to be micromanaged.
  • This is an environment where you are not going to find individuals with an ego the size of a planet or a politician. So, if you believe the world revolves around everything you say, feel free to go back to being an Instagram 'influencer'.
  • People share their knowledge here. There is an expectation that you are coming from a background where you have, perhaps, other ways of doing things that are different than the way things are here. Share those ideas...don't be shy. This client actually wants to hear what you have to say.


This role is being done onsite in Exton, Pennsylvania. So, we are really only considering candidates that are within driving distance to Exton on a daily basis. If you need to relocate, that is fine. However, there are no relocation dollars available to assist you in that relocation process.


I can only work with US Citizens or Green Card Holders for this role.


Here is what we are seeking: We are seeking that nice, broad, generalist. You don't need to know everything (no one does), but we need enough experience in the world of networking, voice, server and data centers for you to be able to function well in a relatively small team (2 people, including yourself, in this team). You will be assist with the design, build, coordination and maintenance of this infra environment (Windows, VMWare, VSAN, AD etc...).


Here are some of the key responsibilities (I won't put an exhaustive list of 1,000 bullet points here... If you are anything like me, after reading about 7 bullet points, your eyes get a little blurry):

  • Work with key stakeholders (IT Leadership, Operations, Finance, Sales, etc...) to make sure that current infrastructure can sustain this client's growth initiatives (there are about 900 users). This is where that 'better ideas' point I brought up comes in handy.
  • Lead the design & development activities of that infrastructure you will be maintaining.
  • Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.
  • Develop procedures and automated solutions to support the customer service operation. This includes upgrading and improving that infrastructure you are maintaining.
  • Provide Tier 2 & 3 support.


Here is what we are looking for (again, this is not an exhaustive list of a zillion bullets...I am focusing on the 'gotta haves'):

  • At least 3-5 years of Network & System Administration experience. We absolutely need both the network & the systems side of things. Their infrastructure and networks are relatively simple....Azure, Windows, VMWare, VSan, and so on.
  • Solid Active Directory experience. This goes beyond the simple stuff around AD...we need some experience setting up domains & trusts, site & services, DNS, DHCP, Azure AD, etc..
  • Familiarity with Azure Admin center.
  • Experience with SD-WAN, LAN, Wireless Access Points, etc...
  • Solid Project Management skills. By this, I mean the ability to plan and execute on projects without needing an army of PM's or BA's to be on that project.
  • A Bachelor's Degree
