Overview

The Director of Technology position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s technology infrastructure. This role requires a hands-on approach in developing and managing the technology roadmap, ensuring effective project management, and fostering productive relationships with internal teams, contractors and vendors.


The ideal candidate will have experience in managing broad aspects of technology, cloud infrastructure (specifically AWS), SaaS implementations, and internal partnerships with product, marketing, sales, and development teams. This role is supported directly by the Chief Product Officer, oversees the in-house development team, and is highly engaged with all teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Turning strategic technology priorities into clear project plans and executing against these plans
  • Supporting internal application development team serving internal and external clients (in partnership with Lead Developer)
  • Managing outside contractors and vendors from proposal to discovery to execution, including building a core competency in managing offshore resources
  • Ownership over major vendor accounts like AWS, Microsoft and other key platforms including regular security and compliance audits and business continuity planning
  • Management of SaaS partners including contracts, implementations and engagement across the company
  • Evaluation of technology components and integration planning of outside systems during acquisition activity
  • General technology engagement across the company and partnership with MSP for user support and equipment needs


Qualifications

  • Proven, broad technology ownership including that which enables customer-facing product
  • Direct management experience of a few individuals and/or small team as well as proven management of contractors and outside vendors
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering complex technology projects
  • A forward-thinking mindset with the ability to stay updated on emerging technologies
  • High-level understanding of software development methodologies and best practices
  • Desire and ability to communicate clearly to all stakeholders to develop a trusted partnership with technology


Preferred Skills

  • Broad AWS understanding and usage
  • Microsoft-centric experience with apps, data platforms (Fabric), and PowerBI
  • Integration experience with outside systems or acquired systems/companies helpful


Work Environment

This position is remote with occasional face-to-face collaboration in the Middle TN area.
