Director of Nursing and Long-Term Care


Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a Registered Nurse and currently licensed in the State of Montana
  • Minimum of two years of skilled nursing or long-term care experience in either Nursing Management or a Charge Nurse capacity
  • Preferred qualification: Long-Term Care Administrators License for the State of Montana


Primary Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Director of Nursing Services and Long-Term Care position is to direct, plan and coordinate the overall operation of Long-Term Care Nursing Services for Northeast Montana Health Services, in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern our facility and as may be directed by the Chief Executive Officer to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. This is a full-time position with a Monday through Friday work week.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the Nursing Service Department for Long-Term Care as well as its programs and activities in accordance with current conditions of participation in the Medicare and Medicaid program.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality monitors through audit reports
  • Works closely with the Department of Health and Human Services for long-term care surveys, deficiencies and plans for corrections
  • Ensures that all required reports are submitted in a timely manner or as required by federal law including: MDS, monthly staffing reports, nursing care plans/RUGS and Level 1 Screening/Nursing Assessment
  • Coordinates nursing services with other ancillary services to ensure the continuity of our patients total regimen of care
  • Takes initiative to create, plan and organize ideas for new services or ways to improve, or add quality to, current services
  • Responsible for ensuring 24-hour staffing as appropriate for patients needs including maintaining staffing schedules, recruiting new staff and evaluating current staff
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of Human Resources to update job descriptions for each level of nursing personnel
  • Develops, maintains and updates, on an annual basis, all nursing related policy and procedure manuals
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and staff education requirements necessary to keep abreast of regulatory changes
  • Responsible for attending medical staff, department management, nursing staff and resident care meetings
  • Assists the CEO and CFO in establishing the annual nursing budget.
  • Communicates effectively with all staff members to ensure dissemination of information
  • Abides by all NEMHS policies including, but not limited to, nursing, personnel, OSHA, corporate compliance, HIPAA, and Hazcom/Blood Born Pathogen policies
