JOB SUMMARY:

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP is an internal consultant to the functions on all employee matters, while at the same time being an advocate for employees.


The position will lead, execute, and implement projects from the HR function and directly from the functions they support. The HRBP will be the primary advisor and consultant on all people related matters and guide managers and leaders on how to handle sensitive situations. The HRBP will serve as a member of the leadership team of the functions that they support with a dotted-line relationship to the leaders of the functions that the HRBP supports, with a solid-line reporting into the Supervisor of Human Resources.


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Acts as a single point of the contact for employees and managers in the business unit
  • Proactively supports the delivery of HR Processes to one or two districts and participates as a member on the district leadership teams
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Manages complex and difficult HR Projects cross-functionally
  • Works with employee relations to manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations
  • Builds strong business relationships with management and employees
  • Actively identifies gaps, proposes, and implements changes necessary to cover risks
  • Identifies and recruit’s talent for critical roles
  • Facilitates the management team to bring best solutions for employees
  • Consults with management, providing HR guidance when appropriate
  • Acts as the performance improvement driver and provokes positive changes in people management
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Works with leadership to create succession plans for key talents and key job positions
  • Challenges the organizational structure, provides guidance, and proposes changes
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Assists with onboarding of new teammates
  • Review’s data, e.g., turnover and exit interviews, to identify issues and make recommendations for solutions
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation
  • Identifies training needs for business units
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFCATIONS:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of human resource and/or retail experience. (A bachelor’s degree will be granted credit of 4 years of experience towards the 8 years of required experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • California Driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Strong project management and change management skills
  • Proactive nature with strong business acumen
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred
