Job Summary: Join the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as a Grants Management Specialist supporting the Translational Research Program. This role focuses on assisting grant applicants, institutional representatives, and program staff with pre- and post-award grant administration. The position requires advanced expertise in grant policies, compliance, financial analysis, and process improvement to support cutting-edge cancer research initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

Grant Administration & Compliance

  • Serve as a liaison with the Institute Division of Scientific Review.
  • Perform comprehensive administrative and financial reviews of grant applications to ensure compliance with NIH and NCI policies.
  • Analyze and ensure grant budgets are allocable, allowable, and reasonable.
  • Draft grant funding memos and quality control summary statements.


Process Improvement & Technical Assistance

  • Provide guidance on grant management policies, procedures, and compliance.
  • Develop and implement grants management training programs, workshops, and SOPs.
  • Monitor and enhance operational workflows for continuous improvement.


Data Management & Reporting

  • Utilize NIH web-based systems like IMPAC II and QVR for data queries, reporting, and updates.
  • Maintain accurate records of grant files, including document preparation and uploads.
  • Update and manage information on the SPORE website and related reporting systems.


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate workshops and joint meetings with NCI/NIH programs.
  • Act as an expert resource for inquiries on grant management policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with staff to track program initiatives and major priorities.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Business Management and Administration or related field (required).


Experience:

  • Demonstrated expertise in grant receipt, funding tracking, and compliance with NIH/NCI policies.
  • Strong background in budget analysis, grant funding analysis, and database management.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Experience in biomedical research grant administration (preferred).
