Job Title: Drywall Estimator


Company Overview:

We are a reputable construction contractor specializing in drywall and masonry, with a growing Doors, Frames, and Hardware Division. Known for our commitment to quality and craftsmanship in large-scale commercial projects, we are expanding our team and seeking a dedicated Drywall Estimator with experience in commercial environments, such as hotels, educational facilities, museums, and medical centers.


Job Summary:

The Drywall Estimator will be responsible for producing precise cost estimates, detailed quantity take-offs, and well-documented bids for drywall projects within our commercial portfolio. This role demands expertise in On-Screen Takeoff software and prior experience estimating drywall for substantial commercial projects. Working closely with project managers, architects, and subcontractors, you will contribute directly to our competitive edge and reputation in commercial construction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate Preparation: Develop and deliver accurate estimates for drywall, metal framing, and related interior systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications and budget constraints.
  • On-Screen Takeoff Software: Utilize On-Screen Takeoff software to perform detailed digital quantity take-offs, interpreting blueprints, specifications, and project plans with accuracy.
  • Bid Documentation: Prepare and organize comprehensive bid proposals, managing timelines, and delivering high-quality bid documents that reflect the full scope of each project.
  • Scope Analysis: Evaluate project requirements and specifications, identifying necessary resources, timelines, and potential project challenges.
  • Subcontractor Engagement: Source competitive quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring that all aspects of the project scope are covered.
  • Value Engineering & Cost Control: Collaborate with project managers to provide value engineering options, while ensuring cost-efficient solutions align with project requirements.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct pre-bid and project site visits as necessary, assessing unique site conditions and supporting accurate bid preparation.
  • Record Management: Maintain comprehensive records for all estimates, bids, and project correspondence to facilitate project tracking and accurate forecasting.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years as an estimator specializing in drywall and related systems for large commercial projects.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff software; familiarity with Bluebeam or other construction technology tools is a plus.
  • Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of drywall, metal framing, and acoustical systems, including related codes, standards, and best practices for commercial projects.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines with high attention to detail.
