Chemical Process Engineer

We are seeking a talented and driven Chemical Process Engineer to join our team. This role is focused on optimizing and enhancing chemical manufacturing processes, with the aim of improving efficiency, safety, and quality. The ideal candidate will analyze current processes, troubleshoot issues, and work collaboratively with multiple departments to implement solutions that drive continuous improvement. Additionally, this position will provide technical support for day-to-day operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to the development and scaling of new processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Optimize chemical manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure safety and quality.
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and R&D teams to design and implement process improvements.
- Monitor process parameters, troubleshoot issues, and lead root cause analysis (RCA) for resolving equipment failures.
- Develop and update technical documentation (PFDs, P&IDs) for process improvements and projects.
- Provide technical support to daily operations and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Participate in risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP) to enhance process safety.
- Support new product/process scale-up and commissioning of equipment and production lines.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure capital projects meet process requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in process engineering, ideally within a chemical or manufacturing setting.
- Strong understanding of chemical processes, including reaction kinetics, heat and mass transfer, and fluid dynamics.
- Proficient in process modeling and simulation software (e.g., Aspen, ChemCAD).
- Skilled in using engineering tools for technical documentation (P&IDs, PFDs).
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills, with experience in troubleshooting complex process issues.
- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
- Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with chemical manufacturing equipment (e.g., reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, pumps).
- Knowledge of plant safety systems and mechanical integrity programs.
- Certifications in Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) or Lean Manufacturing.
- Experience in project management, including leading process improvement and capital projects.
- Knowledge of environmental compliance and waste management practices in chemical processes.
