Optical Design Engineer

Our company is seeking an experienced Optical Designer to develop the future of integrated optical sensing. You will play a pivotal role in the company, leading design and productization of optical systems and components. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their expertise in delivering optical imaging, projection or LiDAR/Depth sensing systems from concept to production. This role requires deep technical knowledge.

 

Responsibilities


·      Engage with architecture, cross-functional leads and product to conduct trade-space studies, derive optimized system architectures and refine product direction.

·      Design and optimize complex optical systems and components, including multi-element imaging lenses, laser collimation, scanning systems using software tools and simulation techniques.

·      Establish and document optical engineering specifications, including key performance metrics and test requirements for optical system and components. Perform sensitivity and tolerance analysis aligned with industry supply chain and assembly partners capabilities.

·      Design and deliver high priority prototype optical systems.

·      Manage and oversee external contract manufacturing through the project lifecycle against timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

·      Work closely with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and specifications.

·      Lead definition of V&V activities to ensure the successful integration of optical sensors into larger systems.

·      Plan and execute component and system level testing activities.

·      Write technical reports and present results to internal and external stakeholders.
