Position Title: Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Engineer

Duration: 12 month contract-to-hire

Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of experience in Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) or Building Information Modeling (BIM)
• General knowledge in the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing fields/industry
• Experience with Revit, Navisworks, AutoCad, Revizto, Sketchup Pro, Bluebeam
• Knowledge of construction management issues
• Ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Mechanical, Architecture, Construction Management, or closely related field.

• Adobe Suite (visualizations)
• Trimble Realworks (Laser scanning software)
• Fuzor (has been used in the past, license is currently expired but is for 4D visuals)

Day to Day:

Seeking a growth-oriented engineer to manage the planning, visualization, and computer modeling of building projects. They will work closely with project executives, superintendents, project managers, engineers, BIM modelers, architects, and clients to create a cohesive construction plan and support field operations. They will leverage digital tools and technologies to create virtual models of buildings and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

As a VDC engineer, your responsibilities will include:

1. Building Virtual Models:

• Using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, create and manage highly detailed 3D models of construction projects.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to gather project specifications and translate them into accurate virtual representations.

1. Continuous Model Updates:

• Throughout the project lifecycle, update the virtual model with new information, ensuring alignment with the actual construction progress.
• Monitor changes and deviations from the original plan.

1. Simulation and Analysis:

• Utilize the virtual models for simulations and analyses, such as clash detection.
• Identify and resolve potential issues before they occur during real-life construction.

1. Communication and Reporting:

• Create visualizations and reports based on the virtual models for stakeholders and clients.
• Facilitate better decision-making and collaboration among project teams.

1. Quality Assurance:

• Ensure that the virtual models accurately represent the planned construction, including architectural, structural, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) components.

1. Sustainability and Efficiency:

• Contribute to the streamlining of construction workflows, enabling timely project delivery within budget.
• Minimize waste and errors by optimizing solutions virtually.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Compensation: $30hr to $39hr
