Job Description:

Upstate Medical University’s Biomedical Informatics team is looking for a Digital Pathology Programmer\Analyst to become part of a dynamic, innovative team of biomedical data informatics enthusiasts Using progressive clinical information systems and data analysis tools, this group focuses on using tools of computation and analysis to capture and interpret biological data that help clinicians, researchers and scientists improve human health and provide better healthcare.


Job Summary:

  • Provide support for computational pathology applications such as bioinformatics pipelines, digital pathology image management systems, and AI/ML image analysis systems.
  • Work collaboratively with the biomedical informatics team and the pathology department to support research and collaborative studies in digital pathology. These include, but are not limited to extensive clinical studies, in-depth analysis across several data types (images, annotations, and metadata), as well as AI-driven initiatives.
  • The Programmer/Analyst will also work with a team of pathologists, scientists, bioinformaticians, and IT personnel to design and develop data management applications that ensure that the cohort datasets are well organized, accurate, and optimized to support collaborative research.
  • Provide end user support and assistance including off hours support.
  • Provide ongoing system support/maintenance and coordinate software upgrades.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of relevant experience or Associate's degree level. and five (5) years of related experience, plus strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

**Candidates who possess a Bachelor's degree or an Associate's degree and a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience may be considered for appointment to a lower-level position at a commensurate salary.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with at least one clinical IT systems, including Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Digital Pathology Image Management System (IMS), and other related applications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, R, and Python for data analysis with experience in data analysis and machine learning tools like PyTorch, Pandas, scikit-learn, Tensorflow, or similar.
  • Experience with database design and development in SQL Server or MySQL. Crystal Reports experience is a plus.
