A day in the life:

  • Recognize electric distribution framing and components from 4kV to 34kV to design or redesign overhead and underground distribution facilities.
  • Perform calculations for distribution line design, including structure loading, guying, geometric angle, conductor sag, unitized framing, and safety guidelines using industry tools and methods.
  • Use survey instruments and field equipment for data collection to create electric distribution designs, property surveys, as-built surveys, construction staking, and ROW staking.

The wish list:

  • 2 years’ experience in Electrical or Gas Distribution design and estimation.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Have a Highschool diploma or equivalent.
