Our client, a highly ranked award-winning general practice law firm, is seeking a paralegal with a minimum of three years of municipal and/or litigation experience.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


- **Claims Review:** Conduct initial reviews of claims against municipalities and investigate related facts and legal exposure.

- **Legal Research:** Regularly conduct legal research as issues arise with municipal clients.

- **Legislative Tracking:** Follow legislative bills and assist with drafting amended municipal codes of ordinances pursuant to enacted laws affecting municipalities.

- **Prepare Legal Documents:** Regularly prepare resolutions and ordinances as requested by municipalities.

- **Draft Agreements:** Prepare initial drafts of term sheets and development agreements between municipalities and developers.

- **Real Estate Transactions:** Assist with real estate acquisitions and sales by preparing purchase/sale agreements, reviewing title history reports, drafting conveyance instruments, and facilitating transaction closings.

- **Client Interaction:** Independently interact and correspond daily with local elected officials and municipal department heads to effectively manage the above tasks.

- **Manage Prosecution Files:** Oversee prosecution files for four municipal courts, including initial intake, reviewing law enforcement reports, drafting subpoenas, coordinating witnesses, and preparing trial exhibits and examination outlines.


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR:


- Post-secondary coursework in paralegal studies or equivalent experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or similar position, preferably an Associate’s Degree or higher.

- Minimum of three years of litigation experience.
