Responsibilities

Our client is looking for a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) System Administrator who will be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. Their primary duties include:

  • Installing and configuring hardware and software components to ensure system security and efficiency.
  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.
  • Creating user accounts and managing access control.
  • Installing and upgrading software and operating systems.
  • Performing regular backups and ensuring data integrity.
  • Collaborating with network engineers to ensure smooth operation of the organization's IT infrastructure.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to users.
  • Documenting system configurations and changes.
  • Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect systems and data.
  • Conducting periodic system audits and ensuring compliance with security policies.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related IT concentration.
  • 6-8 yrs System Administration experience (Oracle, Unix, Linux, Clustering, etc.).
  • Experience leading technical discussions among peers, and drive troubleshooting to resolution.
  • Expert in Unix system administration, Red Hat Linux, Oracle Linux, and Storage administration (ZFS, LVM, Veritas).
  • Ability to create original script/programs for system administration in at least one of these languages: Bourne shell, Perl, Python, Java.
  • Experience with Ansible, especially supporting build and patch automation for RHEL and OEL.
  • Experience with Red Hat PCS clustering.
  • Ability to work extended hours or modified schedule for planned or emergency work.
  • Require little oversight to drive assigned initiatives through to completion.
