OVERVIEW:

Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees in, domestic multistate office locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide quality customer service to employees: train, educate and assist employees in properly completing payroll forms, on-line timesheet submission and time off requests.
  • Audit timesheets for accuracy, approve and release time in the time system.
  • Coordinate, input, assist and process semi-monthly payroll for all exempt and non-exempt employees and ensure that all active and terminated employee wages, earnings and tax withholdings are correct. Distribute payroll reports with every pay cycle.
  • Process off-cycle employee bonuses.
  • Process manual checks as needed for missed pay or terminations according to the state regulations.
  • Process wage garnishments timely to maintain compliance.
  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed.
  • Develop in depth understanding of HRIS database to be able to create ad hoc reports on demand.
  • Assist with answering general payroll questions for all employees and management in a timely manner.
  • Respond to external requests for employment verification.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance within all the states in which employees reside.
  • Display a team work oriented mindset and partner with all levels and departments of the organization.
  • Follow, maintain, and improve payroll procedures.
  • Work closely with the HR department to enact company policy changes that impact payroll processing
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding sensitive information
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by the Payroll Supervisor and Assistant Controller


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
  • Excellent client service skills, including the ability to calmly and patiently resolve issues under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, electronically, or through other means to individuals and groups
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and deal tactfully with sensitive information
  • Commitment to high level of customer service, and maintaining the integrity of the Human Resources and Finance Departments
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience with payroll in the professional services industry
  • Experience with Ulitpro (a plus)
  • Certified Payroll Processor (CPP) (a plus)
  • High School Diploma
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred, not required)
