Upstream Bio is developing innovative therapeutics in inflammation. We are a nimble company with solid financial backing that has raised $400M from high-quality investors. We are developing a monoclonal antibody targeting validated biology and are focused on our two Phase 2 studies in asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) 2024. Our offices are in Waltham, MA. We have a hybrid working model, with Tuesdays-Thursdays in the office and Mondays and Fridays flexible to work remotely if desired. This role may require on-site presence Mondays and Fridays depending on need.


This is a newly created technical, hands-on, and strategic role in the growing operations group at Upstream. The Senior Manager of IT will be accountable for further maturing and running the company’s IT systems supporting a variety of functions spanning mainly corporate but also supporting development functions as required. Upstream is adopting a modern, cloud-first strategy for most of its IT capabilities and is seeking a strong candidate to take ownership of the operations as well as manage its existing MSP relationship. This role will also oversee some facilities needs, which is currently an office-only environment and include supporting Upstream as it relocates in Waltham over the summer of 2024.


The focus for this role will be one of growth, especially in terms of new capabilities and the next stages of maturity of operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Focus on information security, balancing between usability and compliance
  • Interface with a variety of departments and stakeholders, including Finance, Business Operations, People & Culture and R&D
  • Automate strategies to minimize maintenance overhead
  • Manage vendors, including an outsourced team handling day-to-day helpdesk and system administration duties
  • Identify needs, taking initiative to prioritize security efforts as well as short term goals
  • Provide local support for on-site desktop users, A/V, printers, scanners, etc.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience managing a mission-critical IT operation
  • Ability to identify needs, take initiative, and prioritize security efforts and short-term goals
  • Comfortable working directly with C-level executives on strategic initiatives
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry, especially biopharma
  • Experience with ITGCs and the SOX control environment
  • Service oriented and high level of discretion
  • Experience with facilities management, operations, and security of office space and equipment.
