Mechanical Project Manager (Facilities)

Location: San Jose, CA.

Pay Rate: $71/hr.

12 Month Assignment (Great potential to extend or convert)


On behalf of our client, a Fortune 500 software company, we are seeking a Mechanical Project Manager with experience in Facilities to oversee assigned small to medium facilities for construction and improvement projects.


Job Duties:

  • Provides regular observation of project construction in the field and ensures all assigned projects are executed per company policies, procedures and safety guidelines including proper use of PPE.
  • Prepares and tracks budget performance for assigned projects.
  • Prepares and tracks schedules for assigned projects.
  • Provides regular project status updates to assigned project team members, department manager and project stakeholders. Supports Biweekly project status review with Facilities Engineering Staff.
  • Provides timely notification to department manager of issues that impact the assigned project budgets and schedules.
  • Leads cross-functional teams to develop project scope, budget, and timelines. Supports effort to secure customer and management approvals of the project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Support project closure of assigned projects per Facilities Engineering requirements to ensure proper documentation of asbuilt drawings and project record. Ensures proper transfer of information to the facilities maintenance group for ownership and maintenance of new facilities systems.


Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering or related discipline, preferably with a facilities or project management accreditation.
  • Minimum 3-6 years of direct related experience.
  • Proficient in understanding mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD software a plus.
  • Understanding of building related technology requirements and specifications.
  • Understanding of facilities project planning, construction, and space planning. IFMA and PMI certifications a plus. Proficiency with MS Project software preferred for project schedule tracking.
