Quality Assurance Engineer

Company Information:

Toyota Industries Compressor Parts America, Co. (TICA) was established in 2012 to expand Toyota Industries Corporation’s (TICO’s) production capacity for variable displacement type compressors in North America. TICA is a 6,000 square foot facility which is physically connected to TACG, its primary customer. TICO is a leading global manufacturer of automobile parts and assemblies, material handling equipment, and provider of logistics solutions.


TICA is based in Pendergrass, Georgia. This position is on-site at TICA 500 Valentine industrial Parkway, Pendergrass GA 30567.


Department Purpose:

The QA department has a broad process for preventing quality failures. The QA Team is involved in all stages of a product’s development: production, testing, packaging, and delivery. In focuses on detecting mistakes, errors, or missed requirements in a product.


Position Purpose:

Utilize QA principles to ensure manufactured products meet customer requirements and operational availability targets are met.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure products are produced to meet or exceed customer quality expectations.
  • Support new product launches and customer audits by leading projects and PPAP/APQP activities.
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop effective countermeasures.
  • Collect and analyze data to eliminate redundant or unnecessary processes and improve existing processes (minimize scrap and rework).
  • Monitor and improve supplier quality performance.
  • Implement and maintain visual management methods via Control Boards, Operation Manuals, and other visual methods.
  • Promote continuous Kaizen to constantly reduce manufacturing cost.
  • Follow the 5S program as it applies to the Quality Assurance department.
  • Ensure all quality and procedure related documentation is kept current and controlled.
  • Monitor and Support SPC Program.
  • Ensure process compliance to ISO requirements.
  • Plan and Coordinate Layered Process Audits and follow up on findings.
  • Coordinate any changes related to quality through the Change Management Process.
  • Perform process improvement projects to improve plant processes.
  • Lead the investigation and quick closure of customer complaints and warranty concerns.
  • Ensure effective countermeasures are established to eliminate the potential of a repeat QFN.
  • Perform supplier audits as required.
  • Daily and monthly reporting of quality metrics and current QA activities.
  • Ensure Assigned G&O’s are being met.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.


Qualifications - Required:

  • Four (4) year college degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 5-7 years working experience with the ability to read drawings, monitor SPC, design of experiment, Gage R&R, and sampling techniques.
  • Knowledge of quality systems including ISO9001, IATF16949 and TS16949.
  • Advanced proficiency in process analysis, customer claim analysis and defect inspection.
  • Understanding of PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, and root cause analysis.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.


Qualifications – Preferred:

  • Two (2) year college degree in Quality Assurance, Industrial Engineering or Equivalent Experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-cultural, team oriented environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook & Access.
  • Ability to speak publicly and to make presentations to management with authority and confidence.

Additional Responsivities:

  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • He employee must occasionally lift and/or more at least 10 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work varied hours with occasional travel (domestic & international) is required.


Supervision:

This position reports to the QA Engineering Supervisor and will have significant working relationship to Toyota Industries Corporations’ Associates.
