About the Team:

The Data Management department is part of the Operations team reporting to the Chief Operations Officer. The department’s mission is to execute the complete data lifecycle throughout AHC using a comprehensive performance measurement and program evaluation model that produces operational insights and direction both horizontally across lines of business and vertically up and down organizational hierarchy. Data Management’s primary functions are Data Engineering, Data Analysis, and Data Governance. Including, providing data analyses, insights, and visualizations to all teams as well as managing data flow and ELT processes through a variety of data systems both internally and with external partners.


About the Job:

The Data Engineer reports to the Manager of Data Analytics and is responsible for Data Management’s primary function of data engineering. In addition, they provide support in the functions of analysis and governance. They will design, build, and maintain algorithms and systems for collecting, storing, and analyzing high-quality and validated data.


Duties:

  1. Maintain Azure data lake storage and pipelines to property management and resident services data systems.
  2. Build pipelines to ingest data from additional source systems across the organization in phases based on mission priority.
  3. Write algorithms to transform raw data into clean datasets ready for analysis.
  4. Organize datasets into a medallion structure in the data lake.
  5. Maintain data security with both programmatic safeguards and routine training for staff focused on skill-building and awareness.
  6. Regularly review databases for quality assurance and identify gaps between staff training and implementation to improve data integrity.
  7. Support Manager of Data Analytics in additional ad hoc projects including, but not limited to, portfolio mapping and website integration, delinquency tracking for housing stability, resident engagement analysis of surveys and focus groups.
  8. Other related duties as assigned.



Job Requirements:

  • Degree in data engineering, data science, computer science with coursework in statistical analysis and 2-5 years of related work experience required.
  • Advanced skillset in Azure products required, including Data Lake Gen 2, Data Factory, SQL Server, Key Pass, and DevOps.
  • Advanced skillset in Tableau Suite (Desktop, Prep Builder, and Server) or equivalent Business Intelligence software strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL preferred.
  • Interest in using data analysis to support social services and housing development at a mission-driven organization
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of discretion in managing sensitive data like PII
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
