Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff, Senior, and Principal Battery Engineers to join our rapidly growing research & development team. The ideal candidates will be responsible for developing and testing electrolyte enhancements for our next generation lithium ion and sodium ion batteries. Candidates will be responsible for fabrication, testing, and advanced characterization at both the coin cell and pouch cell level. This role requires the ability to work independtly to develop and test new concepts, produce high-performance cells, and perform technical cell level analysis.

In this role, you will:

  • Explore new electrolyte solutions, designing & executing cell tests, and evaluating experiments at the coin cell and pouch cell level.
  • Work with new electrode materials, including lithium metal anodes, sodium metal anodes, silicon anodes, as well as traditional materials like graphite and high nickel cathodes with the aim of optimizing electrolyte and overall cell perfomance.
  • Provide engineering support to project teams to resolve quality issues
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project completion.
  • Engage suppliers to identify and select key materials based on a detailed technical analysis.

Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field and 3+ years of battery development and testing experience;

- Proven experience in cell fabrication, testing, and interpretation

- Ph.D. and/or post-doc in battery materials development preferred for Senior role, required for Principal role

- Expertise in all types of battery cell analysis, ranging from standard cycling studies to impedance spectroscopy and materials analysis

- Experience in cell failure analysis preferred

- Electrolyte filling and Pouch cell manufacturing experience desired
