Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking Principal Software Systems Engineering and Test – 12058. This position will be located at Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program.


The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Additionally, possess excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management. The following describes some responsibilities for this position:

  • Synthesize software requirements into verification requirements, software test objectives, success criteria, and required resources for system level tests and demonstrations.
  • Support the development of software requirements and detailed integration software test plans, procedures, test readiness reviews (TRRs), test data and test reports.
  • Execution of software qualification and acceptance testing per those requirements, plans and procedures.
  • Develop Automated Testing Solutions: Utilize and expand upon our custom automation software library to create efficient and effective testing solutions.
  • Participate in internal and customer software test planning working groups.
  • Support program reviews and customer delivery (CDRL) development.
  • Design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment specific to software.
  • Compile data and define changes required in test equipment, test procedures, or new test requirements.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, testing houses, software development engineers and other stakeholders involved in the testing process.
  • Review software test plans, procedures, and reports; witness testing as the Cognizant Engineer
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers (internal/external) and contributing to a broad range of program deliverables.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.


Job Qualifications:

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Principal Software Engineer: 05 Years with Bachelors; 03 Years with Masters; 00 Years with PhD or 04 additional years in lieu of a degree.
  • US Citizenship and Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
  • Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and help provide solutions across teams/sites.
  • Familiarity with Software development processes.
  • Experience in Object-Oriented Programming languages and/or Scripting languages.
  • Experience operating in an Agile environment using any of the Atlassian software tools sets (JIRA, Confluence).


Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • US Citizenship with an Active Top-Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
  • Experience with integrating and testing embedded software.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present to project and program. management, other technical managers, and customers.
  • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience in test automation tools and procedures.
  • Experience in analyzing software requirements and developing software tests.
  • Experience with distributed version control software (Git, Mercurial, SubVersion).
  • Experience with IBM Engineering Test Management (ETM)
