TITLE: Corporate Controller


POSITION PURPOSE: The Controller will be responsible for directing all accounting operations of the Company. The Controller will assist in the management and financial success of the organization. This includes profit and loss analysis, balance sheet review, month end close support and reporting, and involvement in ad hoc financial analysis to control expenses and aid in the improvement of financial performance. The position has daily interaction with Finance, Operations, Senior Leadership, Bankers, Private Equity partners and board members.


REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes with full financial transparency. Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the general ledger, balance sheet, A/P, A/R, fixed assets, and billing and collections. Establish and maintain system interfaces to the consolidation system and report consolidated results.
  • Develop and prepare monthly reporting packages to facilitate review of the financial statements with the management team.
  • Establish and maintain effective accounting standards, policies and processes to ensure that required recording, analysis and reporting of financial information is in compliance with GAAP and available to all levels of the Company on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Develop an effective system of internal controls, procedures and policies, and document and test key processes and dependencies. Maintain comprehensive documentation in support of accounting positions and conclusions.
  • Lead the evaluation and implementation of business operational systems necessary to support the growth of the company. Monitor the validity, completeness and accuracy of financial systems and proactively resolve issues.
  • Participate in strategic M&A decisions and support to assist with due diligence, analysis and negotiations. Manage the separate accounting and finance functions for all acquired companies. Evaluate options and make recommendations for consolidation or combination.
  • Manage direct reports and develop the accounting team as needed. Establish clear performance objectives and provide career guidance for each direct report. Motivate and reinforce teamwork. Mentor staff and provide leadership.
  • Works closely with Assistant Controller and CFO to implement new initiatives that promote workflow efficiencies. Perform complex projects and other duties assigned.
  • Provide direct support on specific projects.
  • Lead the relationship and interactions with outside vendors various taxes and annual audit.
  • Provides accurate cost accounting including analysis of jobs, cost and standards.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related business field and a CPA are required. MBA is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience, including 3 years of management experience (Controller level or equivalent preferred).


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Previous responsibility for technical financial reporting is required, including extensive knowledge of GAAP, regulatory accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Previous experience in Travel, Transportation or Logistics companies preferred.
  • Strong background in developing and implementing procedures, process and operational controls.
  • Experience with M&A due diligence, purchase accounting, and integration experience preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a deep team-oriented culture; promotes collaboration within the department; supportive of colleagues.
  • Strong computer skills, advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience selecting and implementing an ERP system.
  • Prior experience working with private equity in a highly leveraged environment.
