Seastrom Manufacturing is looking for an experienced and skilled machinist that is eager to demonstrate and enhance their skills in a precision manufacturing environment. The CNC Swiss Machine Operator will set-up and operate one or more Swiss style machines, understand G, M, and Queuing codes, and be able to edit CNC programs as needed to maintain compliant and consistent process control for CNC Swiss style machines. The operator will also perform operational adjustments and machine, tooling, and parts inspections. Citizen experience is preferred.


This position requires the ability to consistently follow processes and schedules independently, with periodic interaction with managers and others. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • understand, and interpret engineering drawings.
  • parts into the appropriate machinery, using the best available tooling methods.
  • sharpen, and reset tools.
  • slight adjustments when necessary.
  • product using precision measuring tools.
  • inspections during set-up and throughout the production process.
  • conformance of sample work pieces to specifications, using calipers and micrometers.
  • machine for unusual conditions.


  • in a safe and professional manner and wear proper protective equipment.
  • area mopped and clean.
  • metal bar stock into feeding mechanism.
  • and returns any unused material to material control to be put back into inventory.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with CNC setup operations.
  • CNC Citizen experience preferred.

Excellent mechanical aptitude.

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Ability to characterize material machinability, tool handling, tool cutter presentation, and selection of appropriate coolants for CNC.

  • Associate/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in machining. Intermediate technical certification preferred.
  • The ability to read, write and speak the English language with comprehension skills sufficient to understand safety standards and job performance expectations.
  • Above average ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to interpret instructions which may be furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; use hands to feel, handle, or grab; reach, pull, push, and lift with hands and arms; walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach. Some sitting may be required.
  • The employee is frequently required to lift 10 pounds and/or move 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to wear safety-toe shoes/boots and other personal protective equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, oils, or other cutting fluids.
  • The noise level in the environment is loud.
