Drainage Engineer -

A firm specializing in delivering tailored and innovative design solutions for

Transportation, Civil, Structural, Architectural projects within Florida and the Southeast.

As we expand, we seek a full-time mid-level engineer with approximately a decade of experience to bolster our Drainage Department. The ideal candidate should be a proficient communicator, deadline-oriented, and equipped with robust skills in transportation drainage design, plans production, with a readiness to embrace marketing and leadership roles.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of conveyance systems.
• Perform analysis and design of cross drains.
• Design stormwater management facilities.
• Execute floodplain compensation analysis.
• Oversee the design and inspection of best management practices for erosion and sediment control.
• Prepare technical documents including drainage reports, pond siting reports, bridge hydraulics reports, and permitting documents.
• Develop construction plans adhering to FDOT standards.
• Manage stormwater permitting with various statewide agencies.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and engage in client meetings.
• Supervise and guide Staff-level Engineers.
• Assist in quality control of construction plans and design documents generated by team members.
• Support project pursuits including Letters of Response, Expressions of Interest, Technical Proposals, Presentations, and manhour estimations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 7-10 years of experience in highway drainage design and plan production.
• Florida PE licensure or EIT is mandatory.
• Proficient in hydrology & hydraulic analysis, flood control/storm-water management facilities design, and drainage and erosion control design.
• Skilled in MicroStation and stormwater design tools like SUDA, Geopak Drainage, PONDS, ICPR, FlowMaster, StormCAD, HY-8, and HEC-RAS.
• Familiarity with FDOT design standards and criteria related to drainage design and plans production.
• Effective teamwork and problem-solving abilities to meet challenging design and schedule requirements.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Knowledgeable about ERP permitting requirements with water management districts across the state.
• Experienced in developing Bridge Hydraulics Reports (BHRs) including scour analyses.
