What You Will Do

  • Prepare journal entries to the general ledger for review by the Assistant Controller & Group Controller
  • Responsibility for the integrity of the general ledgers and modules; investigate errors and prepare journal entries to correct balances as needed
  • Assist in reviewing and updating the monthly close process
  • Maintain general ledger account analysis and ensure a smooth, accurate, and efficient month-end and year-end close.
  • Maintain supporting schedules to validate the Company’s accounting practices are being maintained, i.e. insurance, fixed assets, prepaid and related monthly expenses; make recommendations, where applicable.
  • Assist in the preparation of mid-month Pro Forma Income Statements for management team.
  • Coordinate and assist with external financial audits
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification
  • Monitors budget to actual results and works with department managers to understand reasons for variances
  • Works with CFO and Controllers on special projects, process improvements, system implementations, and the like, as directed
  • Analyze budgets and create financial forecasts
  • Coordinate with project managers to track construction progress and costs
  • Provide support with the financial aspects of contract negotiations and bids
  • Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with project schedules
  • Assist in the development and implementation of cost-reduction strategies
  • Train and support other staff on financial policies and procedures
  • Participate in financial meetings to discuss budgeting and financial planning
  • Maintain confidentiality of the company's financial information


Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry
  • Proficient with accounting software (e.g., Vista Viewpoint, or similar systems)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with job cost accounting and tracking project budgets
  • Familiarity with AIA documents and construction draws process
  • Ability to prepare financial statements and conduct account reconciliations
  • Knowledge of lien waivers and construction insurance requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Understanding of tax compliance related to the construction industry
