Tooling Engineer

The primary role of the Tooling Manager is to oversee the fabrication and design of new tooling requirements and secondary processes within the company. This position entails managing the repair and enhancement of existing tooling, coordinating new production CNC programming, and evaluating CNC production programming and setup.


Primary Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and oversee the implementation of new CNC production programming on CNC machines.

• Allocate daily tasks to Tooling personnel and ensure their adherence to schedules.

• Manage relationships with external tooling vendors, coordinating services as required.

• Design molds and fixtures according to customer specifications.

• Supervise CNC programming for the Tooling department and CNC production.

• Manage the scheduling of the Tooling Department, including internal tasks, external vendors, and adjustments to meet project deadlines.

• Conduct regular Quality Control checks for all Tooling machines.

• Inspect and approve all molds and fixtures for production use.

• Provide training for employees in the Tooling and Programming departments.

• Initiate raw material requisitions as necessary.

• Conduct job cost reporting and evaluations for Tooling orders through Syteline and purchase orders.

• Actively participate in safety committee meetings and uphold health and safety standards.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Experience, Qualifications, and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent required, with proficiency in trigonometry and geometry.

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in CAM 3D programming required, preferably with Master Cam.

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Mold Maker required, with preference for Thermoforming experience.

• Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience required.

• Ability to read and interpret drawings with a strong understanding of geometric tolerancing.

• Proficiency in English language, both written and verbal.

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Proficiency in computer applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

• Ability to operate measurement equipment and strong understanding of metrology.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Work environment includes a mix of sitting, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and balancing.

• Tasks may involve lifting, carrying, or balancing objects weighing up to 50 pounds in a production environment.

• Regular use of eye, hand, and finger coordination.

• Verbal and auditory abilities for interpersonal communication and use of communication devices.

• Visual capabilities including depth perception, color vision, and peripheral vision for machinery operation.

• Ability to move between departments and buildings for interactions.

• Occasional travel by automobile may be required.
