West Physics has an immediate opening for a Diagnostic Medical/Health Physicist based in Northern California. This position requires a solid clinical background in medical/health physics, a strong interest and aptitude for learning, and a can-do attitude with an excellent work ethic. The selected candidate should possess strong leadership and management skills. This position is best suited for someone with excellent interpersonal skills, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently as well as part of a project team, and strong technical proficiency. The ability to exercise a high degree of responsibility and autonomy (once trained) is integral to this position. This position involves substantial opportunities for professional, educational, and financial growth and development; as such, the candidate must be looking for a long-term employment opportunity.This position will require overnight travel, typically 2-3 days per month.

Prerequisites:
- Master's degree (M.S.) in either Medical Physics, Health Physics, General Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, or a closely related field.
- Solid foundation in radiation physics, radiation biology, electronics, and other areas relevant to diagnostic equipment quality assurance testing. (Preferred but not required)
- At least 1 year of documented experience in the diagnostic imaging/clinical environment
- MQSA approved (preferred)
- High-level interpersonal skills, the ability to make presentations to large groups, and the capability to work independently and exhibit intellectual flexibility.
- The ability to understand and apply regulations from a wide variety of State and Federal entities to a variety of client situations, as well as the ability to write effective policies and procedures, Radiation Safety Manuals, and user-friendly forms.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to be professional, courteous, convincing, or persuasive in discussions with clients, regulators, and colleagues.
- Strong technical proficiency, the ability to manage multiple complex assignments concurrently and to completion, very strong attention to detail, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service.
- The ability to troubleshoot problems, brainstorm options, and come to logical conclusions that best serve the company mission and its customers.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- The ability to work well under pressure, to prioritize tasks, and to manage multiple priorities and deadlines properly.
- A working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as very good general computer skills. Familiarity with Apple computers (i.e., macOS) and applications is a plus.
- Flexibility to travel 2-3 days of overnight stays per month.

State of California Requirements for Diagnostic QC Testing:
- Candidates not currently holding an approved California state license are still strongly encouraged to apply, as West Physics will manage licensing efforts for the selected candidate.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide medical physics quality assurance, testing, and consulting services as needed to fulfill its mission. These testing activities will involve MRI, CT, X-ray, mammography, fluoroscopy, and ultrasound.
- In addition, some nuclear medicine consulting and licensing activities will be performed.
- Provide ACR MRI, CT, NM/PET, US, and mammography accreditation services and data review to customers within the state of Rhode Island and occasionally to clients nationwide.
- Occasionally speak at seminars and events and represent WEST PHYSICS’ vendor booth at such events to bring in new business and enhance the company’s reputation. This will involve delivering lectures, presentations, etc., for these events. Occasionally participate in RSNA activities.
- Perform dosimetry review, worker and patient dose estimates, fetal dose estimates, and conduct dose investigations and ALARA reviews.
- Perform shielding designs and conduct shielding verification/integrity testing.
- Assist medical physicists and senior medical physicists with diagnostic radiology equipment testing.
- Other related duties as needed.
