Position Overview

Sagis seeks a highly skilled and engaged Senior Data Analyst to focus primarily on medical billing analysis and reporting. This role will “own” the buildout of operational dashboards, KPIs, transaction monitoring, and process improvement analyses that will be fundamental to the practice's day-to-day management and growth.

 

This role will be highly visible, interacting daily with personnel across all the company’s functional areas. Clients for this role will be internal. The position requires a candidate with a strong data analysis and BI background, a passion for building and improving processes, a high degree of curiosity, and follow-through.

 

Educational Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Business
  • Or a Certificate in Data Science with 5+ years of work-related experience

 

Key Responsibilities


Data Extraction and Analysis

  • Access and extract large volumes of data from our healthcare billing database to analyze revenue cycle performance metrics. 
  • Develop complex queries and data visualizations using business intelligence tools (experience with Zoho Analytics, Tableau, Power BI) to identify trends, patterns, and outliers in key RCM metrics such as charges, payments, denial rates, days sales outstanding (DSO), and claim submission timeframes. 

 

Performance Reporting and Actionable Insights

  • Create comprehensive reports and dashboards to present actionable insights to leadership regarding revenue cycle performance, including areas of improvement, potential risks, and opportunities for optimization. 
  • Analyze payer mix, patient demographics, and coding accuracy to identify areas for targeted interventions. 

 

Process Improvement and Project Management

  • Collaborate with RCM teams to identify and implement data-driven solutions to address identified issues, such as streamlining workflows, improving charge capture practices, and reducing claim denials. 
  • Lead data analysis projects to support strategic initiatives like new billing regulations, coding updates, and payer contract negotiations. 

 

Compliance and Regulatory Monitoring

  • Monitor data for compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, ICD-10 coding guidelines) and identify potential compliance risks. 
  • Analyze data to ensure accurate billing practices and appropriate charge capture. 

 

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with billing staff, coding specialists, patient registration teams, and financial leadership to understand their needs, interpret data findings, and communicate actionable recommendations. 
  • Provide training and support to operational teams on data-driven insights to improve revenue cycle performance. 

 

Required Skills and Qualifications


Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, SAS, Python, R) for data manipulation and query development 
  • Expertise in business intelligence platforms (e.g., Zoho Analytics, Tableau, Power BI) to create visually appealing dashboards and reports 
  • Understanding of relational databases and their principles

 

Healthcare Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of the healthcare revenue cycle process, including patient registration, coding, billing, and collections 
  • Familiarity with payer regulations and billing guidelines 


Analytical Skills

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data sets and identify trends, patterns, and root causes 
  • Ability to translate data insights into actionable recommendations for operational improvements 

 

Communication Skills

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively present data findings to diverse stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals
