Product/CAD Engineer

Our client, a Grand Rapids Michigan-based manufacturer of many different types of cabinets, wine and bar furnishings, and custom storage furniture is looking for a Product/CAD Engineer.


Location: 100% onsite in West MI


Job Summary:

  • The Product / CAD Engineering position has a broad range of responsibilities.
  • Work with the marketing team to design, develop, and engineer residential and contract furniture products.
  • Collaborate with other team members to convert concepts and prototypes into workable designs.
  • Develop 2D and 3D engineering drawings, specifications, and assembly instructions.
  • Compile and enter supporting data: Product BOMs, engineering changes etc.
  • Help coordinate and troubleshoot engineering design problems and solve manufacturing issues.
  • Perform product costing Skills


Required Skills:

  • A level of knowledge typical of an education in Engineering, Furniture Design, or related experience in wood furniture engineering and manufacturing.


Nice To Have Skills:

  • Experience with photorealistic rendering
  • Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop experience


To Be Successful:

  • Strong understanding and efficiency using Autodesk Inventor 3D modeling software and AutoCAD from concept to production.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Flexibility to work on multiple and varying tasks simultaneously, sometimes with conflicting deadlines
  • Attention to detail and organized
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks
  • Innovative and creative with proven problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Corvu analytical software tools
  • Experience with MRP / ERP System (JBA preferred)
  • Experience building bill of materials and manufacturing routings - Flexibility to work on multiple and varying tasks simultaneously, sometimes with conflicting deadlines.
