Job Title: Medical Director (Radiologist)

Location: Remote (company based in Charlotte)

Direct Hire: Part-time (4hours a day/20hrs a week)

LOOKING FOR A RADIOLOGIST LICENSED IN CA, NY, OR NM (or that would be open to getting a license in one of those states)


Responsibilities

  • Reporting to chief medical officer
  • Determine prior authorization request for advanced imaging - MRI, cat scan, etc.
  • Reviewing the requests for medical necessity and be making a decision or recommendation
  • Holding peer to peer conversation with physicians if a request that is being made is not appropriate (for instance, a request is made for a cat scan because they may think it is cheaper, and they believe it will be authorized. This Director will be responsible for reviewing that and approving or making recommendations on what may actually be needed instead).
  • Navigate requests for exams
  • Processing a lot of requests, all electronic
  • Have to be able to interact with team members
  • Interaction with physicians via calls
  • # of cases will vary (6-10 cases daily) - some cases may take 5 minutes, and some cases longer


Skills

  • Prior radiologist preferred - will be supporting the radiology benefit management program & reviewing radiology cases .
  • Preferably licensed in CA, NY, or NM** (NM is a preferences as they are starting a new client in January that is based in NM)
  • CA & NY also preferred as they will be supporting clients here as well
  • Will hire an individual without those state licenses; however, preference to find an individual with at least 1 of the states (takes about 3- 4 months to get licenses in each state)
  • Medical degree
  • No prior authorization experience required
  • Do need to have at least 5+ years of clinical experience
  • Do need to be board certification (radiology preferred), state licensing preferred in CA, NY, or NM
  • Detail oriented
  • Writes well
  • Can work collaboratively
  • Will not be working closely with clinical staff - will be working with non-clinical staff
