The Clark Group LLC (clarkgroupllc.com) is seeking an environmental planner to join our dynamic environmental consulting firm. Our office environment is fast-paced, requiring a highly motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills, clear writing, and a high degree of organization . We are looking for a professional with strong project management skills and critical thinking abilities. Experience with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is preferred but not required. The successful candidate will be motivated to learn and develop expertise in NEPA and related requirements. Specific skills and knowledge on how to comply with NEPA will be available and can be taught on the job . This includes the preparation, planning, and analysis/review of technical studies, NEPA documents, and similar reports/documents. This position will primarily consult on NEPA and related laws for federal government clients.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee environmental compliance for multiple projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Make NEPA determinations on awarded grants for our clients (e.g., categorical exclusions, environmental assessments).
  • Review and develop Environmental Assessments.
  • Draft consultation materials for Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA).
  • Conduct 8-Step Decision-making processes for floodplain impacts analysis.
  • Engage with stakeholders and assist in complying with the NEPA process.
  • Consult with regulatory agencies including SHPO, THPO, USFWS, and NOAA.
  • Develop regulatory guidance, policies, and training recommendations for federal clients.
  • Brief government officials and facilitate project meetings.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an environmental field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working on environmental issues.
  • Familiarity with environmental laws and regulations.
  • Proven project management experience and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Experience working with federal agencies such as USFWS and NOAA preferred.
  • Interest in national environmental policy and the intersection of business, community, and environment.
  • Background in either biology or environmental law and policy.
  • Strong time management skills; adaptability to quickly changing priorities; and attention to detail.
