Pay Range: $45 - $50/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead design on a variety of projects pertaining to governmental, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, and other clients ranging from facility modifications to new facilities.
  • Quality review PFDs and P&IDs from verbal or written description from the design engineer.
  • Quality review basic formulas, principles and practices, and use acquired knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices pertaining to the mechanical discipline.
  • Lead drawing, planning, development, and production work including problem analysis, design layout and calculations on non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity.
  • Evaluate designs or sketches and redlines or mark-Client on ongoing projects for quality assurance.
  • Approve reports, drawings, and tests to plan and lead design projects to meet deliverables.
  • Approve design codes and specifications related to design requirements.
  • Lead production of design drawings within scope, budget, and schedule. Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
  • Compute calculations for layouts, equipment, and schematics under the direction of the engineer.
  • Incorporate schedules, budgets and project criteria into mechanical design and layouts for project financial goals.
  • Responsible for the quality review of all revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner.
  • Train, mentor, and develop less experienced drafting, detailing and design staff members.
  • Participate in marketing and client development meetings.
  • Responsible for the mechanical design QA/QC process.


Key Requirements and Technology Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in drafting technology or related field and thirteen years related experience or associate's degree and fourteen years related experience or fifteen years progressive detailing and design experience.
  • Expert understanding of design software such as: Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360, and MicroStation to develop the design deliverables. Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
  • Expert understanding of planning, managing, organizing, setup, documenting, and delivering complex BIM models and related digital products across diverse project teams.
  • Experience with training team members, establishing BIM standards, and implementing BIM best practices.
  • Expert ability to utilize 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
  • Expert knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems.
  • Expert knowledge in the theory and practices of assigned discipline; competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to the assigned discipline; and capable of operating related discipline design software necessary to execute production tasks.
  • Work collaboratively with others including, but not limited to clients, Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers in a multi-discipline project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
