Requirements:

-Twenty-one (21) years of age or older

-One (1) year experience in foster care system, a volunteer coordinator position, social services agency, family legal work, or related field in a non-profit setting are welcome

-Associates degree in human services, sociology, psychology, or related coursework or equivalent experience in a related field or higher

-Bilingual English / Spanish to speak to monolingual clients

-Valid driver's license to drive to court & other offsite location in Marion County

Job Duties:

-Supervise advocate volunteers (30-35 volunteers), including Spanish-speaking & culturally diverse volunteers & other volunteers

-Assist in recruiting, screening, & interviewing

-Conduct regular volunteer evaluations & monthly case meetings

-Review pending cases, evaluate, & in consultation w/the Executive Director, assign to appropriate advocates

-Complete pre-service training program

-Translate pre-service training program into Spanish

-Keep advocates apprised of court & hearing dates, report due dates, etc.

-Collaborate w/advocates to develop case plans & ongoing strategies for advocacy

-Attend court, Citizen Review Board (CRB) hearings and/or Department of Human Service (DHS) meetings when needed to support advocates, provide assistance or for tracking unassigned cases

-Maintain paper & electronic case file records for assigned / unassigned cases

-Assist advocates in creation of required written court reports by reviewing, & editing if necessary, the content & form of such reports & distribute to appropriate parties

-Provide support, assistance & supervision for advocate volunteers, helping them to maintain & enhance advocate performance over time

-Educate & assist volunteers regarding the thought processes by which to reach an opinion

-Ensure volunteers are appropriately advocating for the children in their case giving consideration to the cultural & unique needs of each child

-Assist advocates w/the preparation of oral presentations to the Juvenile Court

-Read, review case documentation of assigned cases

-There is frequent need for exercising a high degree of independence in a highly confidential environment

-Lift & maneuver up to 15 pounds infrequently


Hours:

-Fulltime, Monday thru Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm

-Remote work for up to 16 hours per week subject to supervisor approval & office needs


Pay / Benefits:

-$25 to $30 per hour depending on experience / negotiable

Language skill requirement or preference: This is position which requires translation of materials from English to Spanish, training and supervision of bilingual volunteers, and engagement with bilingual children and families
