We are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our growing team. This role requires a high level of expertise in commercial painting and commercial coatings as well as construction estimating. As part of our team, you will be responsible for estimating painting and coating projects. It will be your responsibility to carefully review plans, collect bids, and provide clients with accurate cost estimates. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the research and selection of high-quality materials, as well as ensuring that projects are completed promptly and within the allocated budget. Position Summary:   

As an estimator, you will play a crucial role in the success and growth of our company by providing accurate and timely estimates, managing existing clients, and finding new opportunities. You will work closely with Division Leadership, Project Managers, and other KC team members to provide a best-in-class project experience for our GC partners and clients.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Commercial Painting Estimator job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Project start-up folder.
  • Review Plans and Specifications.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs utilizing on-screen takeoff software.
  • Prepare proposal letters and submit bids to potential clients.
  • Bid review and follow-up with client.
  • Review scope of work upon project award.
  • Organize product data submittal packages and order paint drawdowns.
  • Assist Commercial Division Leader with estimating tasks.
  • Perform field reviews, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by Division Leader.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Five or more years of experience estimating in the construction industry, ideally in painting and coatings.
  • Experience in commercial and industrial painting contractor management and production.
  • A thorough understanding with “hands on” experience of the construction process and installation of all types of paint, coatings, and coverings.
  • Strong working knowledge of blueprints, digital drawings, popular estimating software, and the ability to translate into production and cost reports.
  • Thorough understanding of the construction process from bids and bonds to close-outs and warranties.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work in an open and interactive environment.
  • Bluebeam and Microsoft Office experience. Specifically, knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with On-Screen Take-Off (OST) or similar take-off software.
  • Fast learner and have the willingness to work together as a team.
  • Attention to detail even under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
