The Environmental Project Manager is responsible for leading projects from requirements definition through deployment, scheduling, scopes, budget estimations, and risk mitigation. The Project Manager will also oversee and train Project Coordinators and Field Service Managers.


Duties

  • Help define project scope, goals, and costs.
  • Plan and implement projects, including managing scope, setting quality and performance standards, and assessing risks.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers and third-party resources, including subcontractors, laboratories, and equipment providers.
  • Assign and monitor staff and equipment resources to ensure project efficiency and quality.
  • Track project costs and progress to ensure project stays profitable and within budget.
  • Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels and escalate issues, as necessary.
  • Implement and manage changes when necessary to meet project objectives or adjust for unavoidable deviations at the project site. Anticipate obstacles when possible. Communicate changes to management and customers.
  • Train and mentor Project Coordinators, Field Technicians and Field Service Managers, including performance reviews and on the job training.


Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local hazardous waste and safety regulations (required).
  • Experience managing hazardous waste transportation and disposal projects (required).
  • College degree preferred.
  • 4+ or more years of project coordinating and/or hazardous materials industry experience.
  • Driving record that meets company standards and current DMV printout, required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred (training available).
  • Proven success working with both management and field staff.
  • Ability to effectively train and mentor junior staff.
  • Proven problem solving, leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Safety conscious.
  • Ability to work productively without constant supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management, and to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to write and respond to emails or other correspondence in a professional manner.
  • Ability to remain positive and adapt under adverse circumstances.
  • Reading, writing, and comprehending in English.
  • Basic math skills.


Physical Demands

  • Sitting and Repetitive Movement: 8+ hours per day while working on a computer.
  • Eye stress: 8+ hours per day looking at a computer screen.
  • Pushing / pulling: occasionally (5%, field work).
  • Twisting / turning: occasionally (5%, field work).
  • Lift items overhead: occasionally (5%, field work).
  • Standing: occasionally (5%, field work).
  • Crouching / stooping: occasionally (5%, field work).
  • Lifting / carrying: occasionally (5%, field work).
  • Required to wear a variety of personal protection equipment when working in the field (5%, field work).


Work Schedule

  • 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Occasionally work overtime.
