Starker is integrating modern GIS tools and IT platform improvements into its workflows and developing solutions to improve the reporting and analysis of operations.


Starker Forests, Inc., is looking to hire a GIS Program Manager. This is a full-time position, with a salary based upon skill and experience. The successful applicant will work on-site with the entire staff in support of forest operations and bring a service-based approach to this position. The primary role is to help staff make better use of technology to improve workflows and workplace efficiency.

At Starker Forests, we pride ourselves in our forest management practices that focus on longer rotation ages, commercial thinning, and active vegetation management to allow our trees to thrive in ideal conditions. Our forests are certified by the American Tree Farm System and provide clean water, wildlife habitat, free recreation, and wood products to the communities in which we operate. As a bonus, our 95,000 acres of forestland are primarily located within an hour of our office near Corvallis, Oregon.


Starker Forests is a family-owned company that has been in business for 88 years. Starker Forests is strongly committed to giving back to the community as well as sharing our land for recreation. Anyone can call our office and receive a free entry permit. Most of our property is open to the public for recreation such as hunting, hiking, walking, mountain biking and horseback riding. Throughout the year, our public education team hosts forest tours for all ages, including elementary school field trips, to share our philosophies of stewardship and active forest management.


Responsibilities

·       Maintain and enhance GIS ecosystem of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and Esri’s suite of mobile apps in support of operational workflows.

·       Provide user support in ArcGIS Pro and ArcOnline.

·       Manage and maintain both local and hosted geographic data sets.

·       Edit geospatial topologies in ArcGIS Pro.

·       Administer an ArcGIS Online or Enterprise Portal environment, including group and member management, Esri licensing, permissions, etc.

·       Design and maintain mobile and web apps with Field Maps, Survey123 Connect, Quick Capture and other Esri development tools.

·       Provide technical support to employees and coordinate with our IT support contractors for issues beyond your expertise.

·       Use security best practices to ensure data protection and application security.

·       Stay current with industry trends and adopt new technologies.


Required Qualifications

·       2-5 years of experience working in GIS with an emphasis on Esri ecosystem of products.

·       Associates or Bachelors degree.

·       Scripting experience in Python and/or Arcade.

·       SQL and MS Access experience.

·       Troubleshooting skills.

·       Familiarity with Office 365 environment, including desktop and cloud-based apps and services.

·       Ability to work independently, exercise discretion and good judgement, schedule work and determine work priorities.

·       Excellent interpersonal communication, both written and oral.

·       Experience with technical training of peers.


Preferred Qualifications:

·       Natural resource background.

·       Basic knowledge of PC architecture. How to repair and replace hardware components.

·       Documentation experience.

·       Budgeting experience.
