Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as an Asset Recovery Coordinator at Dakota Financial. The Asset Recovery Coordinator handles escalated default accounts. The handling of accounts includes account analysis, asset valuation, skip tracing/investigation, repossession assignment, asset recovery, payment plans and payoffs/settlements


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly analyze account status/history, perform asset valuation and determine best course of action in any default scenario that will provide the greatest return/least amount of loss.
  • Evaluate all possible courses of action and make independent decisions about how to resolve account issues.
  • Collect and analyze information about asset status/value, customer financial status and any other relevant factors to determine which solution provides the best result for the organization.
  • Communicate with customers regarding reasons for default, options to cure default and overall account status.
  • Accurately issue formal notices of default to customers in the form of accelerated/casualty letters.
  • Use own discretion to assign accounts to repossession agents as appropriate and follow up with repossession agents regularly for status of assignments.
  • Continually service assigned accounts which may include ongoing collection activity, skip tracing and gps tracking. 
  • Setup payment plans with customers as appropriate and follow up with customer to ensure payments are received according to payment plan.
  • Communicate with repair shops, storage facilities and impound entities to ensure asset release or resolution.
  • For assets with repair/storage bills, analyze asset value compared to repair/impound costs to determine appropriate course of action.
  • Work closely with remarketing team to ensure assets are transported in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Negotiate payoffs, settlement balances and 3rd party sales as needed.
