Hirewell has been retained by a leading real estate firm to lead the search for a Director of Property Management of market rate multifamily properties. This role involves providing leadership and supervision to the property management team, managing property operations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in the multifamily sector while driving organizational growth and excellence.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and lead the property management team, ensuring efficient and effective management of residential properties.
  • Develop and implement company-wide property management best practices and policies.
  • Collaborate with HR to build and maintain a superior workforce.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory programs and requirements.
  • Oversee financial aspects of properties, including budgets, AR/AP, and cash flow.
  • Routinely inspect properties, oversee annual and seasonal maintenance schedules, and ensure properties meet company standards.
  • Develop and manage capital improvement plans and budgets.
  • Review and manage third-party contracts to ensure optimal value and performance.
  • Evaluate and maintain relationships with third-party trade partners to ensure the best vendors are in place.
  • Provide status reports to company partners and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with company leadership to develop goals and growth plans.
  • Promote corporate culture at sites and among employees.
  • Address tenant issues and monitor evictions.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Illinois real estate license
  • Proficiency in property management and accounting software
  • 7+ years of leadership experience in property supervision, with at least 3 years in a similar role.
  • Strong strategic planning, execution, and change management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and motivate teams under tight deadlines.
