Position Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Ecological Restoration and Project Management to join our growing team. This multi-faceted role involves business development, mentorship and technical support in the design department, and supervision of the project management department. The Director will oversee restoration design and construction projects, ensuring client goals are met, regulatory compliance is maintained, and effective collaboration with project team members. This role works closely with Senior Management to achieve the company’s objectives and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Lead and supervise Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Associate Project Managers, and team members.
  • Ensure high-quality work based on current scientific findings and professional land management practices.
  • Participate in Senior Management Team meetings, contributing to overall leadership.

Business Development:

  • Respond promptly to new project leads and attend initial client meetings to assess needs and develop service plans.
  • Collaborate with design staff to develop project strategies that meet client goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Network and liaise with commercial clients and channel partners to secure new project opportunities.

Technical Expertise:

  • Lead presentations at regulatory review meetings and national environmental conferences.
  • Support the design department with regulatory expertise and preparation of permit application documents.
  • Conduct field assessments and review site analyses.

Project Management:

  • Manage high-profile client projects with assistance from Associate Project Managers.
  • Evaluate performance and manage career advancement or performance management of Project Managers and Salespeople.
  • Conduct site inspections for quality assurance and environmental compliance.
  • Ensure proper management of occupational safety and health documentation and adherence to safety policies.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain project documentation and environmental compliance.
  • Utilize GPS devices and transit levels for project measurements.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management, or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Expertise in presenting projects before regulatory compliance review boards.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and local wetland protection bylaws.
  • Familiarity with landscape construction, ecological restoration, and bioengineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-up, ArcGIS, GPS is a plus.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Massachusetts native plant communities and invasive plant species management.
  • Familiarity with Sage or Timberline accounting or client relationship management software.
