Lead Wind Technician

Position Overview:


The Lead Wind Technician, reporting to the Site Manager/Senior Operations Manager, plays a pivotal role in overseeing operational support within the Operations & Maintenance department. This position, primarily field-based near Livermore, CA, involves leading a team, executing work plans, and assisting in administrative duties to ensure smooth communication and effective maintenance activities.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead team(s) in executing work plans and schedules.
  • Assist Site Manager in administrative tasks such as Work Request management and inventory control.
  • Ensure efficient communication between field Technicians and Management.
  • Support safety protocols and conduct periodic Safety Walks.
  • Assist in quality assessments of Technicians' work.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Train field crews in troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on assets, including HV operations and substation activities.
  • Conduct research on parts and specialty tools.
  • Perform other assigned job duties.


Qualifications:


  • 2-4 years of experience in the wind energy industry.
  • Senior technician and qualified electrical worker qualification through EDF.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Software Programs and SAP.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret schematic drawings.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in mechanical environments.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Good work habits and attendance.


Physical Demands:


  • Standing, climbing, using hands, and reaching.
  • Lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Working at heights and in mechanical environments.
  • Operating company vehicles.


Special Conditions of Employment:


  • Physical weight limit restriction of 285 lbs due to fall-arrest equipment.
  • Annual review of employee weight.


Work Environment:


  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, confined spaces, and moderate noise levels.
