JOB OVERVIEW

The Vice President of Manufacturing will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee Gat Creek’s manufacturing teams. This includes, but is not limited to, leading and coaching the manufacturing teams to produce the Company’s products in a safe, cost-effective, and efficient manner while adhering to the Company’s quality standards. The Vice President of Manufacturing will also be responsible for developing and implementing continuous process improvement and quality systems to meet current and future needs of the organization overseeing the safety, maintenance, quality, and purchasing divisions. Directs and coordinates the activities of the organization in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the chief executive officer by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as deemed applicable.)

  • Creates the structure and processes necessary to manage the organization's current activities and its projected growth.
  • Develops and installs procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the organization.
  • Assists assigned managers with budget preparation.
  • In-depth knowledge of various manufacturing processes, such as lean manufacturing and process optimization.
  • Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects.
  • Establishes operating policies consistent with the chief executive officer's broad policies and objectives and ensures their execution.
  • Evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and reports these results throughout the Company.
  • Ensures that all organizational activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.
  • Prepares and maintains technical specifications and related documentation to secure procedures and prevent system failure. Responsible for company's disaster recovery plan.
  • Explores new technologies for future planning, potential implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
  • Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support to the positions direct reports.
  • Maintains confidentiality in corporate and personnel matters.
  • Other duties as assigned by the CEO.


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • At least 5 years of industry-related manufacturing experience including three years of upper management required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, statistical reports, and legal documents.
  • Proficient in using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for production planning and tracking.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages seven subordinate supervisors in Maintenance, Safety, Woodshop, Finishing, Shipping, Purchasing, and Quality all of whom either supervise additional employees or work closely with other company personnel and departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
