About the Role: In this newly created position, the Product Development Associate will offer creative and administrative support to the Product Development process. They will assist in designing and creating product and marketing materials and assist in maintaining and regulating the brand standards of AKDO products in the field.


Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize new, creative and market appropriate product proposals
  • Identify new concepts, materials, and technologies to create new product ideas
  • Create production-ready product renderings ranging from vector drawings to quality rasterized images using Illustrator and/or Auto CAD
  • Organize prototyping, including necessary engineering development to achieve objective outlined in design brief
  • Assist in collaborations and direct third-party designers to achieve successful product designs
  • Assist in developing project schedules and follow through on deadlines
  • Assist with establishing launch targets, monitor potential delays, and partner with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Create, update, and maintain designs for sales tools and display items, including but not limited to concept boards, sample boards, hand boards, white floor boards, swatches, and displays.
  • Conduct a detailed review of supplier drawings and prototypes to ensure adherence to the design intent and adherence to aesthetic and quality expectations
  • Develop designs for merchandising AKDO’s showrooms
  • Organize and maintain product samples for R&D as well as samples for Collections and approval samples
  • Participate in market research and analysis to stay current on trends
  • Assist in preparation of presentations
  • Maintain Product Information Management system with current technical product information
  • Gather and supply product and merchandising information for new lines and provide it to Procurement and Inventory Control
  • Supply Marketing and Sales with product information and technical details as needed. Gather print and digital collateral needed for product launches
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications/Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 3-5 years of product development experience
  • Strong AutoCAD, and drawing skills
  • Expert in InDesign, Photoshop with strong graphic design skills
  • Familiarity with Illustrator, Dreamweaver, WordPress, Microsoft Excel, Brackets, Prezi and other visual design and wire-framing tools helpful but not required
  • Able to guide dialogue across different disciplines (discuss design concepts with designers, clients, and vendors)
  • Strong orientation towards style and presentation required; passionate about design
  • Background in interior design, home furnishings, fashion, or similar industry highly preferred
  • Ability to incorporate feedback and take/give direction well
  • Team player with strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to solve problems, meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong project management, organization, and eye for detail
