We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting data center equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, particularly in computer hardware and networking, and will be adept at working with various technologies to support our data center operations.
A high level of expertise with Cabling activities, as well as Patch management (installation, removal, management, troubleshooting), is required. Candidates must be willing to work 8 pm to 5 am, 5 days a week. A detailed job description will be provided to interested and qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain data center equipment including servers, routers, and switches.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on hardware to ensure operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and network issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with team members to execute equipment repairs and upgrades as needed.
- Conduct fiber splicing and manage low voltage installations in accordance with NEC standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, repairs, and configurations.
- Assist with the installation of Cat6 cabling and other networking infrastructure.
- Provide field service support for data center operations as required.
Qualifications
- Proficient knowledge of Cisco routers and Juniper equipment is preferred.
- Strong understanding of computer hardware components and their functions.
- Experience with electrical systems related to data centers is a plus.
- Familiarity with fiber splicing techniques and low voltage wiring practices.
- Ability to perform equipment repair tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to work collaboratively within a team setting.
- Relevant certifications in networking or data center operations are advantageous.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $25.10 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Weekends as needed
