OVERVIEW

A national environmental services organization is looking for a Business Unit Finance Manager to join their team in New Castle, DE In this role you will be managing accounting and finance personnel along with the overall accounting workflow for your business unit. While performing your day-to-day operational management, you will also be providing strategic direction and analytical support to division management.


As the Business Unit Finance Manager, you will be overseeing and supporting month end close, forecasting, balance sheet reconciliations, SOX reporting, stock inventories, and maintaining overall quality of accounting and statutory financial compliance. You will be directly managing 6 individuals in this role. The ideal candidate will have experience in waste management, transportation, manufacturing, or related industries and is passionate about process improvement and development.


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Manages accounting and payroll personnel and provides direction to the different accounting functional areas (invoice processing, billing, cash receipts, work order processing, credit analysis, receivable collections, month-end close, journal entries, statistical data, and payroll)
  • Manages financial internal control processes across all business unit functional areas
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures, including SOX and all other statutory requirements
  • Manages reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and reviews financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with GAAP and Company policies and procedures
  • Interviews, hires, trains and develops accounting staff at the business unit
  • Provides analytical support to sales and marketing for customer pricing and profitability analysis, commercial and municipal bids, and any market development projects
  • Manages credit and collection function in an effort to maximize division cash-flow
  • Reviews and approves all related asset management sub-ledger transactions
  • Supports and provides financial expertise to the General Manager during the annual budget and interim forecasting process
  • Ensures completion and submission of financial filings and returns required by contractual agreements and government entities (e.g., tax filings, franchise, host and royalty fees)


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related
  • 5+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership, supervisory, or management role
  • Understanding of US GAAP and SOX compliance
  • Experience with a large, publicly traded organization highly preferred


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing accounting or financial duties within utilities, transportation, trucking, logistics & shipping, or related.
  • CPA or other relevant certifications
