Main purpose of the Product Developer role:


The Product Developer will utilize his or her exceptional organizational skills to independently manage multiple lines and/or categories within Footwear and Accessories. This position will exercise the candidate’s expertise on his or her construction, fabric and development techniques. The Developer will also be able to manage product development through production for the large SKU counts, lead a team and improve processes in a fast-paced work environment.



Major Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


• Allocate, source and develop high quality product on monthly basis


• Support the Product Development Director in evolving PD processes and leading workshops and training for lower level PD team members


• Lead on approvals and/or meetings in lieu of the Product Development Director’s absence


• Assist in creation and implementation of product development calendars


• Manage multiple brands or categories to oversee product development from concept through TOP stage for both Domestic and Import


• Independently negotiate, set and approve target FOB costs and retails and ensure margins are maintained


• Call out margin or development challenged styles in high level meetings (assortment review/line preview) and provide solutions


• Maintain vendor capacities and independently allocate product against manufacturers for the best possible execution


• Lead and monitor WIPs for all product stages for multiple brands or categories for a fast-paced calendar


• Travel to overseas vendors to expedite product and improve processes


• Identify problem areas and provide viable solutions


• Collaborate closely with the Design team


• Main point of contact/communicator of changes and alerts cross-functional departments (Buyers, R&D, Design, Tech and Purchasing)


• Support with Reports/SKU analytics


• Conduct market research of competitors to identify target costs and new techniques/materials in the market


• Attend fittings to ensure product is on time, quality is elevated and cost parameters are met


• Cultivate and develop Assistants/Associates which includes refining their development process


• Complete ad-hoc tasks and assignments as directed by management



Competencies:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:


• Ability to introduce new manufacturers and materials into existing matrix


• Prior experience in effectively leading the product development specific to Footwear and/or Accessories


• Possess knowledge in shoe/accessories construction and specifications


• Strong collaboration skills including being able to successfully work with numerous cross-functional team members


• Strong knowledge of product life cycle and calendar deadlines


• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and leadership skills


• Strong analytical and decision making skills


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Must be able to thrive in a fast paced environment and short lead calendar


• Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to ensure deliveries are met

• Strong ability to lead, manage and train multiple lower level designers and multiple brand categories


• Proactive, self-motivated, advanced knowledge of how to delegate and still meet deadlines with "get it done" attitude


• Strong attention to detail and mistakes and problem solving skills


• Strong leadership skills


• Must be able to able and willing to lift and carry up to 10 lbs., perform frequent repetitive finger, hand and wrist motions, as well as bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling


• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time



Minimum Qualifications:


• Minimum 6-7 years’ experience in similar role


• In depth experience of Product Development for both Domestic and Import


• Degree in Footwear Manufacturing, Product Development, Footwear & Accessories Design or similar field


• Must have leadership or management experience and the ability to lead a growing team


• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop


• Must be able to perform efficiently with tight deadlines


• Goal driven


• Experience with traveling to vendors/factories overseas




Preferred Qualifications:


• Utilize positive past vendor relationship and resources


• In depth knowledge of textiles, sourcing and development


• Ability to travel overseas once or twice a year

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Revolve includes a reasonable estimate of the salary or hourly rate range for this role. This takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, licensure, and certifications.


A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $75K to $85K a year.
