Summary/Objective:

The Human Resources Assistant will perform complex and specialized administrative tasks to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s Human Resources department. These tasks include recordkeeping, file maintenance, generating reports, and assisting the HR Director with various projects as needed.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Creates new employee files and maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Assists with preparation of human resource reports as requested by the HR Director.
  • Answers questions from employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate HR staff or Director.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Conducts or assists with periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Assists with new hire orientation as needed.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
  • Assists with the preparation of the annual performance review process.
  • Provides clerical support to the HR department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • with or possesses the ability to quickly learn human resource information system (HRIS) and similar computer applications.


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Three years of administrative experience is required, with at least one year in human resources preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
