Community Outreach Coordinator

Job Description: The Community Organizer will play a critical role in our mission of reaching out to high-need communities and providing them with information on economic opportunity programs. This position requires a highly motivated individual who is ideally bilingual and excels in customer service. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working closely with community members, particularly those who may be skeptical or unfamiliar with the program or process and can build trust through transparency, patience, and clear communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Support: Provide clear, step-by-step guidance to assist community members in applying for programs and ensure they understand the benefits and requirements.
- Business Outreach: Conduct outreach to business in the community to help support the program, ask them to help in promoting the programs, and workshops/events
- Crowd Canvassing: Attend resource fairs in the community to table and canvass the crowd by informing the about the programs, benefits and requirements
- Community Outreach: Engage with high-need communities to raise awareness about economic opportunity programs, build strong relationships with local organizations, businesses, and residents.
- Document Assistance: Assist potential recipients in identifying and gathering the necessary documents for their application, offering tips and support to make the process as smooth as possible.
- Inbound Call Handling: Respond to inbound phone calls from community members interested in applying for grants, providing detailed information about the program and answering any questions.
- Workshops and Events: Host in-person community workshops to guide residents through the application process, providing one-on-one support and information.
- Data Management: Accurately input application data, and sensitive documents and maintain confidentiality in compliance with data protection regulations.
- Reporting: Track outreach activities, application progress, and community feedback, providing regular updates to the program manager.
- Message and Content Adaptation: Adapt messaging and communication strategies in response to changes in the program, community needs, or external factors, ensuring that all information remains relevant and effective while still meeting key deliverables.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service, ensuring community members feel supported and valued. Address concerns, answer questions, and build trust with community members throughout the application process.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required to assist community members in their preferred language.
- Previous experience in community organizing, outreach, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality customer service, particularly in diverse or under-resourced communities.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, mainly when guiding applicants through complex processes and handling data entry.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and understand high-need communities' unique needs and concerns.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with community members.
- Experience in data entry and managing sensitive documents with confidentiality and compliance with data protection standards.
- Proficiency with G Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Decks)
