We are a busy firm and currently looking to add new team members to both our Davis and Oakland offices. Currently, we have roles available at all levels from entry level drafting/design through experienced project managers. This outline describes our mid-level production support role for Davis. Job Captains provide production support and external coordination on architecture projects throughout all phases of architectural design from schematic design through construction administration. This position will support multiple PMs and multiple projects simultaneously and requires proficiency in Revit and thorough knowledge of architectural drafting, detailing, building materials and construction codes.


Our Job Captain opening is currently focused in Davis, CA and will support our Healthcare client work. Candidates with at least 5-8 years experience are welcome to apply. Candidates with experience in Healthcare design are a huge plus. 


Responsibilities

  • Assist with development of concept design, architecture detailing, work plans/schedules and specifications and delegate those selections to junior staff
  • Administer the Revit model, which may include picking up redlines and/or producing redlines for staff designers, drafting sheet layouts and identifying areas in need of further design development/details
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard architectural techniques with limited direction from supervisor
  • Perform and continue to learn building code analysis
  • Assist in developing fee proposals and project billing
  • Assist with design presentations
  • Coordinate with external and internal team members, including AHJ, consultants, and contractors
  • Correspond with clients and attend meetings with stakeholders as directed by supervisor
  • Conduct site surveys, field measurements & verifications, often delegating to junior staff
  • Support Construction Administration, including attending OAC meetings, updating logs, helping to resolve problems and assisting with punch walks
  • Help mentor & train junior designers


Qualifications

  • 5-8 years experience
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent education.
  • Proficient skills with Revit, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with various software programs (Sketchup, Creative Cloud, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project).
  • Effective communication and coordination with stakeholders, including external parties.
  • Consistent QA/QC of own work before providing to supervisors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of supporting multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Thorough knowledge of architectural drafting, detailing, building materials and construction codes.
  • Experience conducting site surveys, collecting field measurements and doing verifications


Compensation

This position is considered non-exempt and will be paid hourly and is eligible for overtime. Hourly rate range will depend on candidate skill and experience level and can range anywhere between $36 - $46/hour (which is equivalent to about $75K - $96K annually).
