With a passionate team and a commitment to excellence, we strive to create a positive and inspiring environment for dancers of all ages and skill levels.

Job Description: Our teachers at Norma’s Academy of Dance are an enthusiastic, collaborative team dedicated to providing exceptional dance education and fostering a love for dance among our students. Joining us means more than being an instructor–you become an integral part of our Dance Family, where the student always comes first. It is about more than just dance; we seek applicants who are committed to excellence. Let’s collaborate to provide exceptional training to our dance community and forge ‘life lessons’ that transform lives

The NAOD Experience: As a Norma’s Academy of Dance instructor, you will do many things: help dancers grow in technique and artistry, communicate with dancers and families about progress, lead with positivity and encouragement, work with lead staff to strengthen your teaching practice, attend staff meetings and retreats, choreograph for both our Holiday (December) and Spring (June) Concerts, attend community events, and wear several hats at our dance concerts. At NAOD, we value a strong work ethic and the ability to be a team player. Becoming a member of our dance family means committing to being an integral part of the team and fostering a sense of community both in the classroom and at studio events.

Are you someone who…

  1. Is a “people person” and comfortable with all aspects of the dance studio cycle, from teaching children, communicating with parents, working with lead staff to continuously improve teaching practice, choreography, presenting to families during showcases and stepping up for just about anything needed for our concerts?
  2. Is great at working in collaboration with others?
  3. Has experience as a dance teacher? (5 or more years preferred, but not required)
  4. Is patient, outgoing, and has an upbeat personality?
  5. Thrives on continuous growth, embracing both dance-related and personal development?
  6. Has effective, proactive classroom management skills and the willingness to grow within our culture?
  7. Shows up prepared and with a professional dance teacher aesthetic?
  8. Is organized, professional and can commit to at least a year of employment?
  9. Has experience in the following programs or the willingness to learn how to use: Slack, GarageBand, Google Calendar, Dance Studio Pro?

If you answered “yes” to the above questions, you may be the right person for us

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the studio's mission and standards.
  • Teach classes to students ranging in levels.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, recognizing and nurturing their potential and confidence.
  • Complete progress reports and evaluations twice a year to monitor and support student development.
  • Take attendance and maintain accurate records of student participation.
  • Attend studio events and actively engage with the NAOD community.
  • Choreograph and prepare students for two performances per year, held in December and June.
  • Promote discipline, perseverance, and teamwork within the classroom.

Qualifications (Preferred but not required):

  1. B.S. or B.A. in Education (especially Early Childhood Education) is a plus, but not required.
  2. B.S, B.A. or B.F.A in Dance, Arts for Children
  3. 5 years teaching experience (Preferred)

Availability and Interest:

  1. We are seeking teachers who can work a part-time schedule, within our main hours of operation: Weekdays 5-9:30pm, Saturdays 9:00-2:30pm
  2. During our interviews, we’re excited to explore candidates across different dance styles and levels. We’d love to hear about your experience and passion for any or all of the following areas:
  3. Preschool Dance (Ballet/Tap & Ballet/Jazz Combo Classes Ages 3-5)
  4. Young Artists Academy Training Program Instructors (year round and workshop classes)
  5. Enrichment (Recreational) Program Instructors (Ages 5-10) in Ballet, Tap, & Jazz
  6. Wednesday: 5:15pm-7:30pm
  7. Thursday: 5:15pm-8:15pm
  8. Saturday: 9:00am-1:30pm
